Windows XP > ClearType vs. Standard

posted on Aug 25, 2006

One feature that comes with Windows is the ClearType mode for fonts, some people are still using the default standard mode.

You will probably not notice any difference if you have a CRT monitor, since the ClearType was designed for LCD monitors.

The basic difference of the two modes is the way the fonts are displayed on the screen

With Cleartype mode, the fonts look better, they are easier to read and cause less strain on the eyes.

The difference is the way your system displays the fonts on the screen.

How to switch from Standard mode to ClearType mode

Here are simple steps to switch between the two modes:

Close all your programs and the right click on the desktop

Step 2 .-

Step 3.-

We recommend ClearType, but the final choice is up to you

Windows by default does not have ClearType turned on, so just follow these simple steps to be able to activate it.

Summary: Just in case you didn't know, your computer has two settings to make the fonts on your screen look better and easier to read, this works for Windows XP and here is how to change it.
